The Hospital Universitario de Torrevieja provides care to 186,000 eligible persons who live in Torrevieja, Orihuela Costa, Pilar de la Horadada, San Fulgencio, Guardamar del Segura, Rojales, Benijófar, Los Montesinos, San Miguel de Salinas and Formentera del Segura.
Mortality in the Valencian Country is 0.02


For the first time since Saturday 11th April, the Valencian Country, under pressure from the municipalities, is publishing the figures on the #Corona crisis on a daily basis. In the Land of Valencia (five million inhabitants), the Spanish Ministry of Health reports 10,000 people who have tested positive for Sars-CoV-2. A total of 928 deaths occurred, 3,069 people were healthy, 581 patients had to be treated in intensive care units (span.: Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos, UCI). This means that the mortality rate of Covid-19 in the state of Valencia with its 4.8 million inhabitants is 0.02 percent


Nationwide statistics for Spain (as of 17th April) show 19,130 deaths, 67,504 people have recovered and the Sars-CoV-2 virus has been diagnosed in 172,541 people in Spain to date. Madrid remains the city with 6,568 deaths, almost half of all deaths in Spain. Based on the death rates, Fernando Simón, the responsible director of the Spanish “Centro de Coordinación de Alertas y Emergencias Sanitarias”, assumes that the peak has been overcome.

“The trends we are observing are good,” Simón said. The situation in the UCI’s in Spain is “better, but still under stress”, he said. In Spain, according to data from the National Statistics Institute (Instituto Nacional de Estadística, INE), about half a million people die every year – simply because our Lord has given man’s life a natural expiry date.
